drawings by Chris Magnusson CHRIS MAGNUSSON You may have the feeling that you have seen Magnussons drawings before on a wall in the schoolyard, or in a bathroom at McDonalds, or with any luck on the walls of a prison. And that is because Chris was gifted with that which most humble artists want, the gift of communicating with pictures. You do not need money or education to have been given this gift: in a small Guatemalan village Chris would be 'the one who can draw' and they would ask him to be the one who draws the pig in the butcher shop window and the chicken at the poultry. Some advantages for Chris are Sweden and the Internet. His skill comes with that he knows what he draws and he knows exactly the primitive force that even the most simple drawings have. Add to that his personality: he draws without trying to be part of a style or trying to be cute, he knows to choose and to laugh, he doesn't hide or try to be something that he is not. Chris is the oyster that produces the pearls, the seagull that shits and does not miss that shot. An artist that plays with symbols and in doing so, has become a symbol himself.
